E-Learning Design

Schlumberger DDirect 2.1 TutorialStandalone E-Learning

This is a flash video describing a stand-alone e-learning title that I produced, designed, and created all content for a oil and gas drilling equipment manufacturer.

For this project, I was the instructional designer and content developer. The project was developed in Authorware by Andy Raidford, as a project for cPubs.

Sales Training Courses

This is a screen shot from one of the many sales training e-learning titles developed for Dell Computer. The courses were built in an easy-to-use LMS framework that allowed us to focus on developing compelling, effective content and interactions.

Interactions

One key to developing effective e-learning is to have relevant, engaging interactions.  Learners needs are typically not satisfied by simply viewing the course and reading the pages. Media that provides movement interesting to the eye,  audio that engages additional senses, and interactions that ask the learners to explore, all serve to draw the learner into the course.

Build A System Interaction

This is a Flash-based interaction. This interaction was used throughout the course to help the learner assess their progress by adding icon graphics to their “system board”, kind of like a bingo game! Again, this was developed by my hero, Andy Raiford!

To see this how this interaction works, drag the second answer (Chassis) to the circled number “1″

Assessment

Training is only as effective if the learning happens. Quizes and “learning checks” help the student to determine their progress in learning, helps the course designers get feedback on the effectiveness of the training, and helps the organization test the knowledge of the workers.
